Baby Shower

My friend, Shim's baby shower is this weekend! I wanted to give something different to her and for the past week, I had been learning how to make a diaper cake. Well, I don't want a traditional 1,2 or 3 tiers cake like the one I found from youtube.

P3040103Decided to go against the odd by preparing a square one. This is the incomplete version trying on leftover diaper from Chloe. Well, I wanted to test out to see how crafty I am but I guess I can only know after I have put a final touch to it. What do you think? Should I go for this diaper cake or I should buy a ready made gift?

Lovely Magnet

My hubby travels a lot and each time he travels, he will buy magnet that represents these countries. He will then stick it on the fridge as decoration. He loves the magnet very much (huh? talking about a guy's passion). The magnet is the only thing in the house that he will not allow Chloe to play with (of course besides dangerous stuff).

As Valentine's Day is approaching, I am cracking my head now to see what are the things I can made or buy for him. I find that it is more difficult to buy a Valentine's Day present to a guy than woman. I always advice male friends the following:

What NOT to give her for Valentine's Day

1) A box of chocolates, clumsily rearranged in an attempt to hide the fact you ate all the caramel inside

2) Lingerie that you think will look almost as good on her as on Victoria's Secret model

3) Any clothing item with the words "bitch", "push-up" or "slim-down" on the label

4) Any food item with the words "diet, "light" or "high fiber" on the label

5) Any video starring Sylvester Stallone or Jim Carrey

6) Flowers from a hospital's gift shop or mortuary

7) Poetry no matter how heartfelt, that starts out "There was once a girl from Nantucket...."

8) Anything you ever gave another woman, including your mother.

9) A gift certificate

10) An apologetic look and the words "That was today?"

As for me, I guess I will be buying a beautiful handmade magnet and say, "This is handmade just for you. Hope you love it" What do you think?

A Brand New Year

Wow, it is December. I am so excited except for the part where I am getting older. This year has been a rough one for us. My husband and I had gone through a lot of ups and downs. We lost a couple of loves one (whom I still miss very dearly) and struggling through career and financial uncertainty.
Although we are still struggling thought the ocean waves, we pray that things will get better next year. No matter how tough the challenges are, we always have faith as Chloe is walking side by side with us.
To prepare for New Year, I had baked some cookies and in the process of learning how to decorate a cake which I hope Chloe will love it. Check this out.

Making Fall Leaves Craft

I just found an interesting way of making fall leaves craft from Kids Craft and I was attracted with it. I am a conventional mother that believe expensive toys can't replace the valueable time that I spend with Chloe. I am not a crafty person but for Chloe, I am learning creative ways to play with Chloe.

Check This Out!

How we make coffee filter leaves:

1. Cut leaf shapes out of basket-type coffee filters.

2. Fill an ice cube tray with water and then put a few drops of food coloring in each of the sections (orange, red, yellow, and brown). Make each section a different color.

3. Flatten out each of your pre-cut filter leaves and use an eyedropper to make designs on them. Each color will spread and run into the other colors.

This is a lot of fun for the kids (and the grownups) and makes a good lesson for what happens when you mix colors. Let the filters dry completely and don’t forget to put down some newspaper or your table will likely be stained.

Then you can use these pretty leaves in any other Thanksgiving project, tape them to windows, or in a pretty Thanksgiving display.

Homemade paint

Lately there has been news on how China made products (milk, cookies and even eggs) being tainted by melamine. It is so sad to see that because of certain adults so eager to make more money, they risk the life of a child. After all this news, I told my husband that we are not going to buy any made in china product for Chloe.
Ops... how am I suppose to let Chloe learn how to paint. I mean kids love painting and I was hoping to let Chloe mess around with paint so that she can master fine motor skills.
I guess I need to use DIY paint

Homemade Face Paint
